rEcess TRAINING SCHEDULE

The following is our tentative schedule for the rEcess Training Weekend. Please check back for updates.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 5

    5:30-8:30pm - Experiencing rEcess
  • Location - Church at Arkansas View Map
    [right next to Eureka Pizza]
  • Attendees will have an opportunity to attend a rEcess night and get a feel for the program.

    • 8:30-9:30pm - Networking Opportunity (optional)
  • Location - Arsaga's Coffee View Map
  • This will be an informal opportunity to gather together after rEcess and connect with 99 Balloons staff as well as Training attendees.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6

  • Location - Northstar Partnering Group, Waterside Business Center View Map

    • 8:30am - Registration

    8:45-9:00am - Opening Remarks, Introductions

    9:00-9:30am - Opening Session
  • Matt Mooney, Executive Director of 99 Balloons
  • History and vision behind rEcess, and why respite care is important.

    • 9:35-10:05am - rEcess:: 10,000 feet (Part One)
  • Matt Mooney, Executive Director of 99 Balloons
  • Part One of the training will cover the importance of the Non-Negotiables - such as establishing your leadership team, choosing a location, and forming your volunteer base.

    • 10:10-10:40am - Serving Families
  • We will be sharing about the importance of serving families with kids with special needs, and exploring how to effectively engage these families.

    • 10:45-11:15am - Serving Siblings
  • Ben Richards, New Heights Church
  • Ben will be addressing the unique challenges and joys experienced by siblings of children with disabilities. He will explain why serving siblings is critical to effectively reaching your recess families.

    • 11:20-11:50am - Risk Management and Medical Component
  • Matt Mooney
  • Matt will discuss policies and procedures that help make rEcess a safe event for all.

    • 12:00-12:45pm - Lunch

    12:50-1:20pm - Breakout Sessions
  • Breakout topics - to be announced

    • 1:25-1:55pm - rEcess:: On The Ground (Part Two)
  • Blanca Garcia, 99 Balloons
  • Part Two of the training dives into the administrative details and what logistics need to happen the day of your rEcess event.

    • 2:00-2:30pm - Closing:: Local & International Engagement

  • A look into opportunities to engage special needs children beyond rEcess on a local and global scale.
